Iksan a.k.a Iksan Kamil Sahri, is a lecturer at Graduate School Sunan Ampel State Islamic University Surabaya. He completed his bachelor''s degree with a thesis entitled "The Embryo of Terrorism in Pesantren: an Analysis Study of Kitab Kuning". His master thesis at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya was entitled "The Tradition of Kitab Kuning in Pesantren in East Java". He completed his doctoral program at the Postgraduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta with a dissertation "the dialectic of Traditional Islam in Indonesia: The Responses of Salaf Pesantren to the Renewal of Islamic Education Agenda". He was participating in the Partnership program for doctoral student (PIES Program) at the Australian National University as part of completing his dissertation. Iksan is a reviewer of several scientific journals and an activist of the East Java Lakpesdam NU. He is interested on Islam, pesantren, texts and manuscripts. Some of the articles he has written are “Gender Equality at the NU Pesantren: An Analysis of the Single Sex Classroom in Pendidikan Diniyah Formal Ulya at Al Fithrah Pesantren” (2020), “Islamic Education Post New Order Regime in Indonesia” (2018), and “Peaceful Ideology on Pesantren Community: a study on Salaf Pesantren Curricula” (2018) and other articles generally related to Islam and pesantren
