Dr. Nyong Eka Teguh Iman Santosa, M.Fil.I. is a Senior Lecturer (Lektor) at the Department of History and Islamic Civilization, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya (UINSA), Indonesia. He is the Head of the Department from August 2022 up to the present. From 2006 to 2019, he was working for UINSA at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo (UMSIDA). As a lecturer, his main duties were teaching, doing research, and community services (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi). However, he was there (at UMSIDA) trusted for several positions including the head of departments (Bachelor program in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education or PGMI, Bachelor program in Islamic Education or PAI, and Master program in Management of Islamic Education or MPI). He was also seated as the head of the Institute for Education Study and Development (LP3); the Legal Aid and Consultation Institute (LKBH), and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). He was a 2021 fellow of the Study of the US Institutes (SUSIs) for Scholars on Religious Pluralism hosted at Seattle University and a 2014 research scholar at Hartford Seminary (today Hartford International University for Religion and Peace), Connecticut. He holds a doctoral degree (Dr.) in Religion and Cross-Cultural Studies from ICRS (the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies), an international program run by three universities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia: Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN-SUKA), and Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW). His dissertation was on "Rahmatan li l`Alamin: Universal Mercy in Early Islamic Historical Writings" (2016). His magister in Islamic Philosophy (M.Fil.I.) was from Sunan Ampel State Islamic University (UINSA; formerly IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya). His thesis was "Claims for Non-Muslims` Salvation: A Study of Islamic Eschatology" (2005). He earned two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor in Law (S.H.) from Panca Marga University (UPM) Probolinggo and a Bachelor in Islamic Education (S.Pd.I.) from UMSIDA. Previously, after completing his senior high school at SMAN 1 Sidoarjo and before taking his formal higher education, he spent three years studying Arabic and Islamic Studies at Pesantren Islam Al-Irsyad, Tengaran, Central Java, Indonesia (1995-1998).
